We have a rich history of engaging with experts and advocates to further our mission of empowering individuals and communities around the world through technical and legal solutions, as well as establishing shared advocacy priorities,that enable the sharing of education, culture, and science in the public interest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Creative Commons Global Community is made up of individuals from around the world representing over 60 countries. *New* Membership in the CC community is open to anyone and CC Global Network membership is no longer a requirement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Join us! Here are some places you can start:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Share your work under an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/choose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">open license<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">See what CC resources might need translating into another language and publish your translations! Anything under a CC license aside from \u201cND\u201d is open for translations.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contribute to ongoing License &amp; resource translations [<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">additional opportunities for formalized translations coming in 2026<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">]<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Host a training or event in our region about CC licenses and Open Access.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work with our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/opensource.creativecommons.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open Source<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> team to support the development of our free open source software projects.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Join Zuilp, our community chat platform, and become a channel moderator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Consider starting a volunteer <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/working-group-guidance\/\">ad-hoc community working group<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connect with your local chapter or consider helping to start a new one.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More ways you\u2019d like to help? We are currently undergoing a process of improving our community structures to be more agile and increase engagement. In years prior, CC hosted three platforms: the Open Culture Platform, Open Education Platform, and Copyright Platform. We will be centralizing the work of these thematic Communities of Practice (formerly platforms) with ad-hoc topic based meetings and opportunities for working groups around topics of interest to the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, we are trying something new.\u00a0 We will be moving toward open invitations to the whole community for theme-based meetings as a part of our virtual programming in 2026. This will allow more collaboration across disciplines through Zulip, virtual meetups with open invitations to the whole community, and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interested in moderating a specific topic? Let us know by emailing <\/span><a href=\"mailto:community@creativecommons.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">community@creativecommons.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Community Blog: We Like To Share<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We invite community members to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1gT3m9Pkwtegef4QhM85g8ue9XuYQcBS2UG5kvipdjco\/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.84epk02ca90x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">submit <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">writing about your work related to Creative Commons and the Open Movement to our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/creative-commons-we-like-to-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medium Blog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a great place to read about others\u2019 work in the movement, showcase your own achievements, share strategies for organizing, and showcase the importance of open advocacy in your contexts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Community Funding<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Historically, CC has supported the community through funding opportunities such as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/creative-commons-we-like-to-share\/announcing-the-2025-open-culture-platform-activity-fund-awardees-e1c122bf50a2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Activity Fund<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where platform members could apply for small grants to support local projects. At this time, we are unable to continue to support this work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are, however, exploring supporting a couple of regional events with small grants each year.
