Public Domain.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creative Commons training efforts strengthen our mission to \u201cempower individuals and communities around the world through technical, legal, and policy solutions that enable the sharing of education, culture, and science in the public interest.\u201d In 2024, our Learning &amp; Training team focused on: 1) piloting new partnerships, 2) expanding training options, and 3) reaching new communities.\u00a0 We are pleased that our 2024 training and engagement efforts supported national governments, universities, secondary education institutions, NGOs, librarians, cultural heritage professionals, and web developers spanning almost every continent.\u00a0 See below for highlights, and contact us if you would like to collaborate in 2025.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Piloting new partnerships:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CC worked in partnership with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unomaha.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">University of Nebraska at Omaha<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/advance.nebraska.edu\/browse\/uno\/microcredentials\/courses\/open-educational-resources-for-librarians-and-educators\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Introduction to Open Educational Resources<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d our first professional development microcredential course.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We partnered with<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libraryjuiceacademy.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Library Juice Academy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to create an additional microcredential course launching in January 2025. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/libraryjuiceacademy.com\/shop\/course\/341-creative-commons-licenses-from-concepts-to-practice\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Registration<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is currently open until all seats are filled.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similar to our partnership with the US Midwest Higher Education Compact (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mhec.org\/convening\/get-certified-creative-commons\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MHEC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), we partnered with<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bccampus.ca\/2024\/08\/08\/bccampus-partners-with-creative-commons-to-support-open-licensing-education\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> BCcampus <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to support subsidized CC Certificate training for additional higher education institutions.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expanding training options:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CC provided increased support for our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/certificates.creativecommons.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CC Certificate program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and its 1,892 alumni across 68 countries. The CC Certificate program trains advocates, educators, librarians, and cultural heritage professionals in copyright, open licensing and open practices for advocacy. This year, CC awarded 35 scholarships for Certificate courses; hosted 24 webinars covering topics such as Digitized Representation by Heritage Institutions, Accessible OER, AI, copyright, and CC licenses; and provided multiple avenues of engagement for Certificate alumni, including both formal and informal mentorship options and a monthly newsletter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CC increased our customized training offerings, providing workshops, tutorials, talks and training for: the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aacu.org\/event\/2024-25-institute-open-educational-resources\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AAC&amp;U\u2019s Institute on OER<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajol.info\/index.php\/ajol\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Africa Journals Online<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, CEU Press and Ukrainian Partners, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cccco.edu\/About-Us\/Chancellors-Office\/Divisions\/Educational-Services-and-Support\/burden-free-instructional-materials\/zero-textbook-cost-program\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> grantees<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/network.creativecommons.org\/chapter\/cc-rwanda\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CC Rwanda<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.connecticutmuseum.org\/?gad_source=1&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQiA3sq6BhD2ARIsAJ8MRwXZNaKE8Sy6M9Z8Be4W6Mdqg5MKPj0lNhnyBJtpmDulib6gxVScCjoaAuTBEALw_wcB\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Connecticut Museum of Culture and History<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Ghanaian secondary school educators focused on Open Education For Climate and Environmental Sustainability, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/conference.iste.org\/2024\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ISTE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Live 2024, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/guides.library.missouristate.edu\/AOERConference2024\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Missouri\u2019s A&amp;OER Conference<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pre-conference training day, OER and Social Justice for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kyvl.org\/affordablelearningky\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Affordable Learning Kentucky<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uu.nl\/en\/university-library\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Utrecht University<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wikimania.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/2024:Program\/Open_Education_and_Collaboration_Amidst_War_in_Ukraine\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wikimania, in partnership with Ukrainian and Netherlands librarians<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Willoughby Institute faculty workshop at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dickinson College<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/2024.wpcampus.org\/schedule\/lightning-talks\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WordPress Campus Conference Lightning Talk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. See additional engagements including keynotes and moderated discussions in our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/2024\/12\/11\/cc-open-education-2024-in-review\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CC Open Education Year in Review.<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reaching new communities:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To reach more librarians, CC collaborated with the American Library Association to provide a 4-week webinar series for ALA\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ala.org\/core\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Core<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> division, supporting librarians\u2019 professional development. CC also hosted presentations at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/2024.alaliblearnx.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ALA LibLearnX<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/2024.alaannual.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ALA Annual<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To reach more communities involved in Open Science and Open Data, CC hosted trainings including: an Open Climate Data Recommendations and CC Licensing 101 workshop for Open Education week, Open Data training for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dot.ca.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California Department\u00a0 of Transportation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an open data workshop for ocean and climate researchers in partnership with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intertidalagency.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intertidal Agency<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.michaeljfox.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Michael J. Fox Foundation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mkm.ee\/en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CC provided training for additional government audiences with a CC 101 for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eca.state.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">U.S. Department of State\u2019s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reflecting on 2024, we are grateful for the friendships and collaborations forged, and the new communities we had the pleasure of meeting.
