A new CC Publication"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"post-75016 media-75016\" class=\"align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Duria_Antiquior.jpg\" alt=\"An illustration of a prehistoric landscape with dinosaurs and reptiles.\" \/><figcaption class=\"attribution\">Duria Antiquior by Henry De la Beche, National Museum Cardiff, Public Domain<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today we in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/about\/arts-culture\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open Culture Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are releasing a new publication: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Dont-Be-a-Dinosaur-or-The-Benefits-of-Open-Culture.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t be a Dinosaur; or, The Benefits of Open Culture<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following in the footsteps of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/2023\/01\/12\/pioneers-of-open-culture-a-look-back-at-how-open-access-happened-at-three-early-adopters\/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CPioneers%20of%20Open%20Culture%E2%80%9D%20contains,Public%20Library%20are%20different%20institutions.\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">open culture pioneers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, many institutions are taking the leap to open their collections online, partly as a way to celebrate a sense of (re)connection with cultural heritage collections in the digital space. While the road to OC is strewn with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/2022\/07\/22\/what-are-the-barriers-to-open-culture-heres-what-the-cc-community-has-to-say\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">barriers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, its benefits are well worth the journey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This report distills the many views expressed in our <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/tag\/open-culture-voices\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open Culture Voices<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (OCV) series about the ways in which so many people can benefit from open culture.
